The Yarra Valley Smaller Wineries "Eastern Subaru" Shortest Lunch was held on 21st and 22nd June 2008 from 10:00am — 5:00pm both days.
Patrons joined us in a celebration of the shortest day and enjoyed this warming winter festival of good food and great wine in our cosy winery at Steels Creek. This year we served slowly braised beef with a piquant caper sauce and smoked¸ marinated and slowly baked eggplant. Both dishes were served with creamy potato bake¸ rocket and Red Kitchen preserves. Our wines were available by the glass to enjoy with the meal. For the shortest lunch we featured our 2003 Reserve Chardonnay. The food, wine and company were all received very well by those attending making it a very successful event. Remember the 2009 Shortest Lunch will be the 10th anniversary of the event and is sure to be a very special occasion.
